Burbank High School has proudly served the city of Burbank, providing high quality education, for 101 years. We celebrated our Centennial last year. We brought alumni together from as long ago as the Class of ’28, to “honor the past, celebrate the present, and impact the future.” Burbank High School has a long and rich tradition of service to our community and service to our country. As we move into our second century of educational excellence, we are committed to preparing our students for their future- whether they choose to attend college, technical school, enlist in the military or enter the job market.
In addition to a core curriculum that satisfies the University of California a-g requirements, Burbank High offers 17 Honors and Advanced Placement classes, a wide variety of visual arts classes, career technical classes and nationally recognized performing arts. Our student athletes compete in 18 CIF sanctioned sports, frequently advancing to playoff levels of competition. Our students can choose from almost 40 clubs to be involved in, all of which require community service and exist to meet the needs and interests of our students.
Over the past seven years, our Academic Performance Index score (derived from State Testing) has risen by 95 points to a score of 806. Our staff and students focused their efforts and raised our score by 48 points this past year. No other school in the State, with our demographics, made this amount of gain. Our score of 806 places us in a select company of high schools who have reached the 800 mark. We are proud to join our sister school, John Burroughs High School, in exceeding 800.
The Burbank High School staff is committed to providing a safe and secure environment that promotes student achievement. We maintain high academic standards and give our students the tools to attain those standards. Burbank High School has a staff of highly trained and highly committed educators whose primary focus is the academic success of our students. Our graduates attend some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country.
